The Benefits Administrator is primarily responsible for administering both the traditional and flex group benefit plans for over 7,000 employees in a multi-employer plan, ensuring administrative compliance, resolving data and billing issues, and ensuring that the benefits administrative processes are carried out effectively and efficiently. The administrator is responsible for the effectiveness of the day to day functions related to the administration of the programs, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and correct application of all facets of the plan and its rules, as well as in conforming to internal policies, insurer contracts, as well as any regulatory and legal requirements. As the front-line contact for the employers, the administrator ensures that plan member and employer queries are addressed and all aspects of benefits administration are handled in a proactive, responsible and timely manner. The administrator will also be involved in projects aligned with the administration of benefits including the management of the annual flex benefits enrolment processes and for coordinating the relevant time schedules, and related communications materials.
As the successful candidate you possess a post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration with a focus on payroll, accounting and/or completion of a CEBS designation with five years related experience focusing on administration in a web-based benefit environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. You have demonstrated knowledge of employee benefits administration and underwriting principles. You possess working knowledge of flexible benefits plans and administration of flexible benefits plans. You possess or are working towards a CEBS designation.
As the successful candidate you have the ability to exercise sound judgment, set priorities, organize, implement and administer effectively in all areas of accountability. You possess a high attention to detail, strong client service discipline and the ability to work independently to handle multiple simultaneous needs while under constant payroll deadline pressures and as a team player. You have a fluency in Excel, strong written and oral communication skills in corresponding with all stakeholders (participating employers, plan members, service providers, and programmers), dependable and can be trusted to handle a high level of responsibility and confidentiality at all times. In addition, you have the ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple demands and meet tight deadlines.
