Economics

Our clients have come to rely on our expert, timely and non-biased economic research to evaluate emerging issues locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.

From weekly briefings to issues-based reports, our in-house economists produce a variety of reports on key issues that impact the Ontario and B.C. markets. Our team covers trade, labour, housing, interest rate surveys and forecasts, as well as regional reports and market share trends that track major shares in the credit union and banking sectors.

Sign up for economics news and get the latest research and trends in the B.C. and Ontario markets.

Our Experts

We have some of the industry’s most respected economists. Our team of three is led by Chief Economist, Helmut Pastrick, with support from David Hobden and Bryan Yu who closely monitor and analyze economic trends and conditions.

Helmut’s years spent analyzing and forecasting the B.C. housing market and economy at Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, combined with his former role as President of the Association of Professional Economists of B.C. and as a current member of B.C.'s Economic Forecast Council, make him a sought-after media contributor and speaker across the country.

In fact, our entire team is in high demand to give presentations across Canada to organizations and groups, including credit unions, trade and professional associations, and service clubs. Newspapers and television media also routinely call on all our economists to provide insight and commentary on a range of economic issues.
