MemberDirect® Services, Central 1 Credit Union’s online banking platform used by more than 300 financial institutions across Canada, has taken top honours for another year in two benchmark studies for online banking performance.
Several financial institutions using the MemberDirect platform outranked all others in the Keynote Canadian Banking Performance Index, published by global leader in Internet and mobile cloud testing and monitoring, and also in the Canada Banking Performance Benchmark, conducted by the technology performance company Compuware Corporation.
The Keynote Canadian Banking Performance Index measures the total execution time and success rate for logging in to an online banking account and checking the account balance. The Canadian index in 2014 was 7.67 seconds, however, the country’s two largest credit unions – Coast Capital Savings and Vancity, which both use Central 1’s online banking platform – outperformed the index. Coast Capital’s total response time was 5.20 seconds and Vancity’s was 5.84.
These response times were superior to the Canadian index of 7.67 seconds, behind which three of the Big Five banks performed.
The Canada Banking Performance Benchmark measures response time, availability and consistency. Canadian Western Bank and Laurentian Bank of Canada, which use Central 1’s online banking platform, took first- and second-place rankings across Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer browsers. Canadian Western Bank had an average response time of 4.1 seconds, with 99.99 percent availability and a consistency of 1.69 seconds in January, as example.
