VANCOUVER, BC, (September 23, 2019) – Central 1, a provider of financial, digital banking and payment products and services, has been shortlisted for the Best Overall Corporate Governance Award at the 2019 Excellence in Governance Awards.

The awards were created by the Governance Professionals of Canada (GPC). GPC’s mandate is to be the voice of governance professionals in Canada. GPC is well positioned through reputation, influence and representation, to celebrate the practice of good governance in Canada.

Central 1 was shortlisted for exemplifying ‘next generation governance’ and demonstrating resilience, agility and innovation. Since January 2019, the Central 1 Corporate Secretary Office (CSO) together with the executive sponsor responsible for the Board and committee, implemented a new standardized meeting process to foster meaningful discussions and participation of directors at meetings.

The CSO also ensures the integrity of the governance framework, responsibility for the efficient administration of Central 1, and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

The nominees for Best Overall Corporate Governance Award include Central 1, BMO Financial Group, Royal Bank of Canada and Canada Revenue Agency. The winners will be announced at the Excellence in Governance Awards gala dinner on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at The Carlu in Toronto.
