Today, we celebrate two of Central 1’s leaders who have been named to Business in Vancouver’s (BIV) 2025 BC500 list. Our President & CEO Sheila Vokey is recognized in the Leadership category and Chief Economist Bryan Yu is recognized in the Knowledge category for Economic Development.

Published annually, the BC500 honours individuals whose leadership drives progress, builds trust and helps shape the province’s economic future. We at Central 1 know that Sheila and Bryan embody these qualities every day, and we’re proud to see them acknowledged for their efforts.

Since becoming CEO in 2022, Sheila has strengthened Central 1’s strategic direction, modernized operations and reinforced our mission to empower financial institutions and fintechs that deliver banking choice for Canadians. With more than 25 years of experience in the financial sector – including senior leadership roles at Payments Canada and Bank of Canada – she brings deep expertise and steady leadership to a rapidly evolving financial sector.

Bryan is a trusted economic voice for our clients and sought by media across Canada. His insights help credit unions and policymakers navigate uncertainty with clarity — enabling data-driven decisions across the credit union system and beyond. Whether forecasting housing trends, evaluating financial risk or speaking to national media, Bryan has a unique ability to turn complex data into actionable intelligence.

BIV reports, “Each leader featured in this edition has demonstrated remarkable professional contributions, earned significant peer recognition, received notable awards, and shown a strong commitment to community involvement and non-profit work. They are considered to exemplify the modern values of leadership, including engagement, trust, corporate citizenship and inclusion.”

Recognition like this reflects the strength of leadership behind Central 1’s purpose and its impact across the financial services landscape. We hope you’ll join us in congratulating Sheila and Bryan on this well-deserved honour.
