Vancouver, B.C., January 12, 2021 – Central 1 is pleased to announce the appointment of Bryan Yu to Chief Economist. Reporting to the Vice President of Treasury Solutions, Bryan will be leading and mentoring Central 1’s team of economists who empower credit unions with practical and unbiased forecasting, reporting and analysis. The team provides objective, expert-driven economic analysis that enables credit unions to clearly evaluate issues emerging on an international, national and local level – helping credit unions make informed decisions.
Bryan joined Central 1 in 2010 and was most recently Deputy Chief Economist since 2017. In addition to managing the team’s broad research agenda and economic forecasts, he will continue writing key economic reports including interest rate forecasts, and economic outlooks and commentaries. Following the launch of Central 1’s new Economics Centre, Bryan will oversee the development of new regional products delivered through the platform.
Recognized as an expert economic forecaster in B.C., Bryan, currently Vice President of the Canadian Association for Business Economics, will continue increasing the visibility of Central 1 and act as the main economics contact for media and deliver presentations to industry trade groups, members and clients. He will also participate in various economic forecast council’s in B.C and Ontario, and newswire polls from Reuters and Bloomberg.
Prior to Central 1, Bryan was an economist at the B.C. Real Estate Association and Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation. In addition to presenting his insight and analysis at over 100 events, Bryan has written a weekly article in the Vancouver Sun and then in Business in Vancouver. He is the past-president of the Association of Professional Economists of B.C.
