As we progress into 2025, we have important updates to Central 1’s executive leadership team.
Our Payments business is a core focus for our organization, and as we look forward, we are increasing our energy and emphasis on it to bring value to current and future clients. With this focus, we are pleased to share that Barclay Hancock has joined Central 1 as our Chief Payments Officer.
Barclay joins Central 1 after serving as Chief Payments Officer at Metrolinx in Ontario. In this role, Barclay modernized the PRESTO payment system used across the largest Ontario municipalities, leading to a system which is now one of the most advanced globally, enabling easy, seamless payments for transit riders. Barclay is no stranger to the financial services system — he has also held multiple executive roles at TD and American Express. Some clients may recognize Barclay’s name from his participation in our Leadership Panel at Momentum this past October.
“Barclay brings a wealth of experience navigating complex environments and leading strategies that have produced impactful results for clients and the people they serve. This orientation along with his depth of understanding in the Canadian payments landscape are strong additions to Central 1’s leadership and overall organizational abilities.”
Erick Wong, our Chief Product Officer, has decided to move into semi-retirement to spend more time with his family and pursue other interests. In Erick’s time at Central 1, we have appreciated his vision and leadership to evolve our work in product, including our progression toward an API platform model of service delivery. This is a significant shift for our business that allows us to improve the flexibility and ease our clients can access our products and services. We have made meaningful advancements in the past few months and are looking forward to sharing more about it as we connect our clients to it.
Erick will provide transition support to Central 1 and the leadership team over the coming months. We thank Erick for his significant contributions.
As Barclay steps into this new role, we will be introducing him to our clients and system partners. We’re excited about the positive working relationships Barclay will contribute to as we collectively move forward.
